The Northern Thailand Province of Mae Hong Son is one of the 'choice' destinations for tourists - Thais and Foreigners alike. It is one of those rare places on this earth, where time and 'progress' seems to have passed it by. Home to many of the famed Hill Tribes, Mae Hong Son - with a population of around a quarter of a million, is one of the most sparsely populated provinces in the Kingdom. Yet it has it's own small airport that ensures a steady trickle of tourist throughout the year. It was at one time, one of the most important training grounds for the Elephants which have been so important to Thai history and progress.
