Nakhon Nayok Province - Central Thailand .

Nakhon Nayok is a province near to Bangkok (100kms), so suitable for a day trip from the capital. Or perhaps for just a night stay.

Nonetheless, Nakhon Nayok is an interesting area - perhaps being slightly neglected by tourist and Thais, because of it's nearness to Bangkok! There are several w2aterfalls and national parks in Nakhon Nayok together with many historical sites - sights even!

It is an area that grows a wide range of fruit.

To the North of the province, there are the Dong Phaya Yen mountains, wherein are situated several waterfalls of note, and of course the Khao Yai National Park.

The Southern part - though flat - is not particularly noted for agricultural output, for the soil is relatively unfertile - being on the acidic side. Perhaps some enterprising farmer or whatever, will explore the possibilities of growing plants of some type, that are happy in acidic soils.

There is a good botanical garden in the province of Nakhon Nayok - Wang Takhrai - near to the Wang Takhrai waterfall. Other waterfalls of note, include the Sarika Waterfall - having nine separate small falls making the whole. This is within the Khao Yai national Park.

Activities - for those inclined to to get some 'action', there is exciting canoeing on the Nakhon Nayok River. Exploring the mountainous terrain on mountain bike is also an option.

Take some insect repellents, and one of the many jungle trek expeditions might be for you!
