Ang Thong is also known for native handicraft work - notably moulded dolls and wicker work.
Ang Thong Province is home to over 200 temples - one of which houses the largest reclining Buddha image in Thailand measuring Fifty metres from head to toe. Wat Khun Inthapramun:
There are seven districts (Amphoes) in Ang Thong, being - Amphoe Mueang Ang Thong | Wiset Chai Chan | Sawaeng Ha | Pa Mok | Pho Thong | Chaiyo | Samko.
Ang Thong Province (The Golden Bowl) is situated Central Thailand and lies North of Bangkok. It is totally flat plain which is well suited for rice growing. Therein is the clue to it's name of 'The Golden Bowl' for the rice farming is a major part of the province's economy.
The river Chao Phraya runs through the province - as does the lesser river Noi - and as such provides the water needed for rice growing. The river Noi was instrumental in halting advancing Burmese armies in days gone by.
