Isan has a wealth of festivals and events - often with its unique historical roots as the core element.
In keeping with the rest of Thailand it of course celebrates the normal traditional and Buddhist festivals - but often with its own historical background integrated.
However, it is the unique Isan festivals that set this area aside from the rest of Thailand. Festivals based largely upon its agricultural base and historical past.
It would be wrong to assume that all parts of Isan are the same, with the same festivals. Isan is rich in diversity, and nowhere does this show more than in the several festivals that are unique to certain provinces.
