Bangkok Skytrain BTS Stations

Skytrain is the doyen of the public transport system in Bangkok as well as serving all the major tourist and commercial areas of Bangkok.

You may have heard about the traffic snarl-ups in Bangkok – and that’s without the political demonstrations that happen from time to time – but the City is well catered for in public transport facilities - probably as good as any other busy city in the world.

Without doubt, the doyen of the public transport system is the BTS Skytrain system.

As well as serving all the major tourist and commercial areas of Bangkok, BTS Skytrain also connects up with the metro or underground system – MRT.

A combination of both gives you easy access to anywhere in Bangkok that is ‘Anywhere’.

If you want to see Bangkok – as a tourist or other visitor – get a hotel or other accommodation near to or with easy access to Skytrain. (And expect – be prepared – to pay a little more than elsewhere).

There are two lines on the Skytrain system, the longest system – Sukhumvit Line -orientated roughly North to South and the Silom Line which is generally East to West, and crosses the Chao Phraya River.

Both lines connect to the Underground System of the MRT line which runs in a part circular route, thereby covering most of Bangkok.

Sukhumvit Line runs between Mo Chit at the northernmost point, terminating at Bearing at the South Eastern end. The Silom line runs from Central Siam(and beyond to the National Stadium) and connects to the Sukhumvit Line, to the western terminal point of Bang Wa.
