As with all other shopping markets in Bangkok, it has a wide range of everything - clothes, watches (good and bad) souvenirs for back home and plenty to eat from a wide range of market food stalls. It is cheaper than the nearby Sukhumvit and Pat Pong areas, so probably no need to bargain for good prices.
Plenty of bars and varied restaurants - including Italian, German and Thai food.
There is a curious-looking Khmer building at one end of the market. On the other side of the Khmer building is a dome where it is possible to buy beer and drinks. It also serves as a concert venue for bands, music and the like. Many of the food stalls have photo menus - so there is no need for the non-Thai speaking tourist to go hungry.
After a few drinks and shopping here,
you can move on to the many night clubs in the Silom
area - all night if you want!
