Bangkok Butterfly Garden and Insectarium - Chatuchak Park.

The butterfly garden is just along the road from the Chatuchak weekend market, enter the large modern glasshouse, and can find a seat and let the butterflies simply waft over you. The tropical glasshouse is planted with nectar-rich flowers, and the butterflies are obviously happy in their free-flying habitat. We do not profess to be entymologists, so would be happy to hear from anyone who can give a butterfly a proper name - info@smilinginthailand.com

Move slowly, and you can get in close to most butterfly species. Butterflies hate sudden movement, and are even a bit wary of having a camera lens too close! Do NOT touch. Butterflies are delicate things and need to be treated with respect. Better still, just stand still in the same spot, and the butterflies will get used to you being there, and often come quite close.

The butterfly house will normally be even warmer than outside, and normally more humid. There is little air movement other than that caused by the gentle flapping of the butterfly wings! There are several hundred butterflies to be found in the enclosed garden, and stealth is the best way to attract them to you.
